Well, our exciting overseas jaunt to Basingstoke was today, and the result was… we didn’t win. Bother! But, hey, it was a great event and we got to go to Basingstoke. Naturenet was runner-up in the Best Rural Enterprise Website category, sponsored by SEEDA, and we received a very fine certificate!
It was a glittering ceremony, with appearances from the Lord Lieutenant of Hampshire, and Steve Power, amongst other luminaries. Afterwards there was a buffet lunch and a chance to chat with many of the other finalists and judges. Lots of good networking went on. The food was pretty good too!
Naturenet sends congratulations to the only other Isle of Wight finalist, iwight.com, the Isle of Wight Council website which deservedly won the Best Public Services Website category, sponsored by EPI-USE.
They were very supportive and cheered us on – and Chairman of the IW Council Cllr Mr Roger Mazillius even showed his support by joining in the Naturenet team photo!
Oh well – it was fun, although we didn’t win. But there’s always next year!
Congratulations you two! We were pulling for you from the States! Next year, we will yell even louder!!
BTW, you both clean up rather well!
The Ranger responds: thanks! [blushes] I thought I could hear something. Mind you, I’m surprised you managed to even mention the word ‘well‘…
Well done Matt – richly deserved. Councillors eh, where would we be without their support?
Congratulations – More than worthy runners-up. You were obviously robbed, can’t you ask for a recount, or have the winners drug tested?
Good luck for next year.
Congratulations. Be careful, all these awards will start to add a thin veneer of respectability to your already excellent blog. Soon acceptance speeches will take up the time you used to spend on the website.
Please keep up the good work.
The Ranger responds: thank you for your continued support! Your warning is heeded – if we should ever win an award, we’ll be careful…
Well done and congratulations to the Naturenet Team, very worthy runners up and we are well impressed with the Rangers photo journal.
Stars of our news HERE:
The Ranger responds: thanks! Your encouragement is very welcome. We like Island Pulse too – we read it every day.
Many congratulations to NatureNet on getting through to the Finals, which is no mean achievement in itself.
Next year, eh…?
