Ask the Ranger

GotThe Virtual Ranger a question about the countryside, conservation or nature? The best thing to do is ask your local ranger! We rangers are friendly people who love to answer questions about our work. Well, maybe you can't find a ranger at the moment. Just for this very eventuality, Naturenet provides a service called... 'Ask the Ranger'.

Look here at some questions we've been asked in the past.

We love to get questions! If you are unsure as to whether to ask us or not then send it to Naturenet which is staffed by a former ranger who will try his best to answer it!

We are real Rangers and, just like most other Rangers, we are human - so please remember these things : 

Search Naturenet

Please do not send your entire essay or assignment questions. We can't send you a whole essay back and we won't do your project for you. But we'd love to help you with bits of it. So please don't ask general things like "tell me all you know about spiders". Ask specific questions like "where do spiders go in the winter" (click here for the answer). If you do send an essay question, please try not to make it too obvious. Thanks!

So, where do spiders go in the winter?

Some die, some hibernate. Many leave behind egg sacs which hatch out in spring, and in a mild winter many adults will also survive. Climate change will mean that this happens more often, so there may be more and different in the UK spiders in the future.
