Tractor music

Matthew Chatfield

I used to have a tractor like this. Starting it was fun, but stopping it usually took about half-an-hour of coaxing!

In Ireland a couple of years ago, we were enjoying a quiet drink outside a pub in Donegal. Therre was a tractor of that vintage parked in the carpark chugging away merrily to itself all the time we were there.
Seversal conversations with chatty locals alter it turned out to belong to one of them who had left it running because it didn’t have a battery. Not a problem at home because they live on a slope and could bump start it, but the pub car park was at the bottom of the hil!
