If you’re not familiar with the Canadian Wood Spider – as I wasn’t – you might want to view this informative video about it, and some interesting experiments it has been used in. You’ll need to hear the commentary to appreciate it.

Still, that spider looks awfully familiar…

Dear Ranger had 22 tegenaria duellica last year apart from the ones the cat killed.Have lots of gaps filled this year but last night an enormous really black one was in the cat litter box so I caught it in a glass and put it out. These spiders give me the horrors and I can’t figure out where this one came from so early. Would this have been in all winter or could it have squeezed in a tiny gap in cat flap? It’s annoying me that there was one so early in the year and I don’t know wher it came from..

  • Pretty darned funny, initially I thought it was a real clip on Canadian spiders. Now I see that the spiders in Canada are just like the one’s in the States.
